A very fine quality 1930s Art Deco Sapphire & Diamond Collar Necklet
What an incredible necklace this is, it was made in the 1930s, set with 21 Sapphires within the fringe collar, and an additional Sapphire as the centrepiece to the diamond set clasp. The estimated total weight of all the Sapphires is in excess of 20 carats.
The collar is beautifully articulated, with overlapping diamond set wave shaped panels that allow it to sit to perfection, following every contour of the wearer's neck.
The total diamond weight including baguette, tapered baguette, brilliant, and eight cuts is estimated to be in excess of 8 carats.
The necklet is made of both platinum and 18 carat white gold, and as well as show-stoppingly striking, it is blissfully comfortable.
A wonderful piece of jewellery from a remarkable period of jewellery creativity. To the original recipient it must have been the very last word in chic fashion, and it would surely have caused quite a stir with the previous generation used to seeing Victorian necklets.
